For August the B/Ger of the Month is...
Koala!!!
Welcome to the first EVER "the LIST's Spotlight on the B/Ger of the Month"! I decided to create this monthly presentation as a way to recognize the incredibly talented and giving individuals that have made, in my opinion, the B/G 'ship the most friendly, the most supportive, the nicest, the most talented, and the "funnest" 'ship in the Buffy Universe. This is my small way to show my appreciation and my gratitude. It is also a way to brag on my dear friends in an official manner.
The first "Spotlight" recipient is the wonderful Koala. There are so many people that deserve to be recognized, and they will, but Koala was without hesitation and without a doubt my first and only choice to be the debut "Spotlight". I can honestly say that without Koala, the LIST would not exist.
When I was first starting to try my hand at picture manipulation, or as we call it: fakie making, Koala was there. She encouraged me, she gave me hints and suggestions, and cheered me on... building my confidence. When I first attempted to add hardware to my computer, she was there, 'virtually' holding my hand in chat as I took that first daunting step of removing the cover from my PC. When it didn't work, she guided me through the fix. When I decided to take the plunge and start my own B/G fanfic archive Koala provided me with the wonderful fakie that greets visitors to the LIST. She is one of the sweetest, most giving individuals that I have ever had the good fortune to meet during my time on the internet or ever.
But besides being a wonderful person, she is unbelievably talented. Her talent with fakies and with vids is known and respected, not just within the B/G community, but throughout the entire fandom. She is famous. She may not be known by EVERYONE in the fandom, but I have yet to meet someone that doesn't know of her.
But for me, it is her writing that I find the most amazing. She has a wonderful way of taking characters, maintaining the integrity established by the series and the actors, and making them grow. She gives them more dimension and depth, letting them grow and change naturally, without losing all those things we love about the characters. She shows us faults and foibles of the characters, without diminishing them, but rather making us love them more. What she can accomplish with a few paragraphs, could take another writer pages and pages and not quite make the mark. She can make me cry with a word and have me giggling my butt off minutes later. She is that good.
She is a talented artist AND she is good people.
Please join me as I appreciate Koala...
