| Elizabeth Anne Summers stood by the table As it was the only job she was able To get with the skills she could acknowledge... Slaying demons didn't equal a degree from a college! Miles away, in the library stacks A tired Giles again unpacks. Was she alive? Where had she gone? Was it something he had done wrong? He suffers each night dreams where Buffy dies Or worse, is taken as a Dead Man's Party prize And turned into a demon, the fear unspoken... One heart to be staked and the other broken. His body bruised and battered, His money gone, what did it matter? As time went by with not a whisper or a shout Although he denied it, he was running out Of Faith, Hope and Tricks up his sleeves... He closes the door and quietly leaves. During the days that went by with no lead He reflected on her life--a story indeed, Of Beauty and the Beasts without the magic of Walt Disney and that was most certainly his fault. And then she was there, back at his door It was Disney magic: no, it was more!! He could only smile as he was denied A proper Homecoming for also outside His door was a crowd So he could not speak aloud His words of delight At this wondrous sight... But oh for weeks onward his heart did rejoice Until came the moment that he slept with Joyce! Oh damn that Ethan and his Band Candy That brought out Ripper, making him randy No inner Revelations of his feelings for his slayer Definitely a good thing that he didn't try to lay HER! Oh but the cruel fates do like to torture And Buffy's beau had come back to hold her And now its tense, they find it hard to talk For both he and Buffy took the wrong Lover's Walk. The Wish he'd make would be for Amends Or just going back to being good friends.... He tried many things in an effort to fix it Had her for tea and Gingerbread biscuit, But they failed to connect and her birthday arrived And the Council came and he obediently lied. He found it ironic that he was then told to leave For loving the girl that he had been forced to deceive. Uncertain of his role, he was Helpless in love He felt like The Zeppo that Xander spoke of. He watched as Faith led Buffy astray, And Wesley appeared, to his dismay. Wesley was wont to make pompous speeches: "Too Bad, Girls," he said as he reaches For his glasses to clean with a flick of his wrist "No time to party for here is my list "Of what we must do before the Ascension. "We must take care and need I mention, "The possible Consequences of our actions? "I shudder at The Mayor's probable reactions." "Our reality is unstable, like shifting sands "He could force us into a Doppelgangland "Where everything is different and oh very wrong "And our many Enemies are powerful and strong..." Giles sighed and moved out of Earshot. Wesley had whined and yet he would not Surrender his place at his slayer's side Nothing would move him, the Council had tried. Particularly NOW as the vampire was leaving And although he knew that Buffy was grieving, He hoped she would see that she had Choices And at The Prom he intended to voice his Desire to dance with this beautiful girl To glide across the floor, to dip and to whirl... But when the dance came, the monster was there And he walked away, dancing only with air. But he would wait and after Graduation Day One opportunity would come for him to say, "The Two of us belong together You have my love forever and ever." |
